Netflix Announces ‘Ozark’ Season 4 Release Date

Netflix has officially announced the Ozark Season 4 release date. The first seven episodes of the fourth and final season are set to premiere on Friday, January 21, 2022.  The second part of the season is expected to follow sometime in 2022 (no release date yet for those final 7 episodes).

Along with the announcement is a new teaser trailer, which we have below.

After three thrilling seasons, the infamous Ozark series will end its money laundering, cartel boss drama with one last extended season. Ozark Season 4 promises to answer questions that have plagued viewers since the beginning of the series.

At the top of the list: Will the trials the Byrdes have undergone and the wrongs they have committed be worth it in the end?

In late September 2021, Netflix hosted their digital fan event. The event included a number of trailer drops, release date announcements, and teasers for their original series and films. One of those clips was for the upcoming season of Ozark, which at the time was still in its final weeks of production on the fourth season. Take a look below. 

The Final Season

The final season, which consists of 14 episodes in total, is being split into two parts. Once Episode 7 airs, we’ll be waiting again for the final 7 episodes.

“A supersized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).” Bateman commented back in June 2020.

What bang is he referring to? What else can the writers put the Byrdes through? He goes into more detail, saying how he was “interested in the big question [showrunner Chris Mundy] has the opportunity to answer: Are they [the Byrdes] going to get away with it, or are they going to pay a bill? What does he want to message to the audience about the consequences of what the Byrdes have done – or lack thereof?”

The Cast

Season 4 will star Jason Bateman (Marty Byrde) and Laura Linney (Wendy Byrde). As well Felix Solis, who plays Omar Navarro, the cartel owner, and Damian Young (Jim Rattelsdorf), both of which have been promoted series regulars for this final season.

Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) will also be returning. And according to Billboard, rapper Killer Mike will make a cameo appearance with Ruth during the final season as well.

Lastly, fans can expect to see Alfonso Herrera, who is joining the cast as new bad guy. He plays a member of the Navarro family that we’ve not yet met, who is said to walk a fine line between the obedient lieutenant and scheming to take over his uncle’s cartel.

The Final Season of Ozark: The End of an Era

While it’s always bittersweet to see a show you’ve loved come to an end, Ozark Season 4 promises to end the show by doing justice to its characters and answering questions central to the series.
