DVD Review: Katharine Hepburn 100th Anniversary Collection
A collection of works staring Katharine Hepburn.
Review:
Katharine Hepburn fans will love this collection of work. Included in this bundle are the following titles: Morning Glory (1933), Undercurrent (1946), Sylvia Scarlett (1935), Without Love (1945), Dragon Seed (1944), The Corn Is Green (1979). While they are not Hepburn’s most notable roles, she shines none-the-less and the collection is certainly worth picking up. Through the films in the set, we can see Hepburn’s career from the early years and then as it progresses to 1979’s “The Corn is Green”. You can see her growth as an actress and the more involved she becomes in her roles as the years bring her experience and wisdom. Our favorite in this collection is 1933’s “Morning Glory”, while it was only Hepburn’s third film, it was the first film for which she won an Academy Award. She later went on to win three more for films not included with this bundle. We would have really loved to have seen 1981’s “On Golden Pond” included, but we still think there is quite a bit of charm with this collection, which highlights several films that are very deserving of the attention.
The extras in this collection are quite nice as well. With each of the six movies, you get a short film and a classic cartoon. Whether you are a seasoned Katharine Hepburn fan or simply a fan of good movies, be sure to check out this collection, it won’t disappoint.
