A Look at the ‘Sex and the City: The Complete Series + 2 Movie Collection’
Before getting into this I must admit I have never in my life seen an episode of Sex and the City before this release. It just wasn’t my thing.
Luckily for me, I have a wife that wanted to sit through and watch every episode of this series. So I feel somewhat like an expert at this point. For those not familiar, Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, a New York-based writer who explores and experiences the unique world of Manhattan’s dating scene, chronicling the mating habits of single New Yorkers.
The series also stars cast regulars Kim Cattrall as PR executive Samantha Jones, who’s seen — and done — it all; Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, still trying to hold on to the idea of happily ever after; and Cynthia Nixon as a corporate lawyer and mother Miranda Hobbes, a pragmatist trying to balance the idea of love with the realities of life. As a series, this one broke some boundaries. It really focused on women in a humorous way but definitely gave them the power. It celebrates the liberated woman.
What’s in the Sex and the City: The Complete Series + 2 Movie Collection
This release features a high definition release feature 96 episodes of the iconic series plus Sex and the City: The Movie and Sex and the City 2 in one, elegant must-own box set.
The 18-disc collection comes housed in an embossed slipcase with an attractive design and rigid construction that includes a concealed magnetic strip that seals it shut. The 16-disc series has an Amaray style case with the discs in pairs of two laid out on “pages” in an overlapping configuration with new push-button inserts that hold them in place (the push button design is one that I haven’t seen before and actually holds them so tightly that it makes them extremely difficult to remove).
The two feature films come in a standard DVD-sized Amaray case with a traditional push-button removal setup. Both cases fit neatly into the embossed slipcase.

How Does It Look?
The high-definition release looks great. The flesh tones look very natural and the views of New York are wonderful. I saw no noticeable issues in this release.
The sound is also well-balanced. For a show of this nature, there’s not a lot of action, explosions, and such so it’s not a huge challenge for your home theater system.
That said, the music is pretty great and balances well so none of the dialogue is ever hard to hear or overrun. It’s very clean and crisp.
Overall
Sex and the City: The Complete Series and Sex and the City: The Movie/Sex and the City 2 allows serious fans the opportunity to re-visit these characters in an A-Z fashion and in the best quality of visuals and sound. While I wouldn’t call myself a fan, I found it quite enjoyable and well-written. This would be a great gift for that Sex and the City fan in your life.
