When Does ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Come Out on Streaming?

Top Gun: Maverick

When does Top Gun: Maverick come out on streaming platforms? The good news is you won’t have to wait long!

Tom Cruise’s latest film debuted on May 27, 2022. And in just its first two weeks, Top Gun: Maverick has grossed over $300 million domestically and over $580 million worldwide. Which means that this might just be Cruise’s first film to cross over the $1 billion mark.

The film is set  36 years after the original 1986 film, Top Gun. It follows Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he trains a new class of recruits for vital, specialized mission. The new recruits include Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), aka “Rooster”. Bradshaw is the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose”.

When Will Top Gun: Maverick Come Out on Streaming?

The new good news is that Top Gun: Maverick will debut on Paramount+ this summer. The bad news is you’ll have to wait a little bit longer.

Paramount typically waits 45 days after a film’s release before premiering it on their streaming platform. And with Top Gun: Maverick debuting on May 27, Rolling Stone states the release date will be around July 11.

How to Watch Top Gun Online for Free

While you’ll have to wait till mid-July to watch the film on Paramount+, the good news is you can watch the original Top Gun movie online free now with a free trial to Paramount+. The free trial lasts one week at which point you’ll be charged $4.99 a month, and you can cancel at any time.

Paramount+ is actually offering a one month free trial until June 20, 2022. So if you grab that you should be able to watch both Top Gun movies online free before your trial expires!

Is Top Gun Streaming on Netflix? Or Hulu?

The original Top Gun left Netflix on May 31st, so you’re no longer able to stream it there. However, you can stream it via Hulu if you have the Live TV package and Top Gun is airing on TV. (We do not expect that Top Gun: Maverick will be on any of these platforms initially since it’s a Paramount release.)

For movie fans with the Hulu + Live TV package, you can add movies to your “My Stuff” section just like a DVR. So that if you’re not home when it airs, you can still watch it from your Hulu app later.

  1. FANTASTIC. This film lived up to the hype. I saw the original in the theatre in 1986. It blew my socks off then-I was 9. This movie brings you into the cockpit. It took 15 months to create a film camera that could withstand the movement of the plane, and the stress to handle all of the G’s they pulled. They built these cameras into the cockpit itself. The work shows. It is the most immersive flight film ever created. With recognition to Tony Scott and Don Simpson from minute one. Don Simpson was Jerry’s producing partner when the first film was done. He was passionate about doing a sequel. Homage was paid. Starting the film the same way as the original was a beautiful tribute to Tony Scott. Joseph Kosinski did it right. A ride from start to finish. The story was tight. The filming was tighter. I am thrilled to say that I loved this movie almost as much as the original. As a TG fanatic, that is as good as it gets.
