Camila Mendes is an American singer and actress. She debuted as Victoria Lodge on the hit teen drama series Riverdale. And through her work on Riverdale, she won Choice Scene Stealer during the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. 

Camila’s Early Life

Camila Carraro Mendes was born to Brazilian parents in Charlottesville, Virginia, on June 29, 1994. Camila’s mother, Gisele, is a flight attendant, while her father is a business executive. She has a sister who’s four years her senior. Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Atlanta and then moved back to Virginia. 

She studied a Fine Arts program in Plantation, Florida’s American Heritage School, and graduated in 2012. Additionally, in 2016, Mendes finished school at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. She made friends with singer Maggie Rogers while studying at university. 

Present Day

Before landing a lead role in the hit drama Riverdale, Mendes’ first acting job was in a commerical for IKEA.  And in 2016, she was cast as Victoria Lodge, the “silver-tongued high school sophomore” in Riverdale. After debuting on television in 2018, she made her debut on the big screen through the film The New Romantic, which premiered at SXSW Festival. 

In March of the same year, Mendes joined the cast of The Perfect Date, which was released on Netflix in 2019. Since then, she has appeared in various films, including Coyote Lake in 2019, Palm Springs, and Dangerous Lies in 2020. 

Besides films and television series, Mendes also appeared in a music video for the “Give a Little” by Maggie Rogers. Additionally, she serves as Melody’s voice on the animated series Fairfax. 

Riverdale’s success also brought nominations for its cast. In 2017, Mendes and Riverdale costar KJ Apa were nominees for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The two were again nominated for Choice TV Ship at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards.

It just so happens that both of them have the same family name. Camila’s parents are Brazilian, while Shawn is half-Portuguese as his father was born Portuguese.

Both Camila and Charles reportedly left together in Charles’ car after dinner. Days after the dinner, the two allegedly got back together. What do we know about Riverdale Season 7

After six seasons, the show revealed that Riverdale season seven would be its final installment of the hit teen drama. The series was renewed along with other CW shows, including The Flash, Kung Fu, All American, and Walker. 

For Riverdale followers, Season 7 will be the last time they see Camila Mendes together with other casts like Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch. 

The CW CEO Mark Pedowitz confirmed the report of Riverdale having its seventh and final season. Additionally, the show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was also glad of the management’s decision. He wanted to have a proper send-off and ensure it ended correctly. 

Pedowitz also revealed that Riverdale would have a midseason premiere. Furthermore, it will not have a shortened order of episodes. This means that Season 7 will premiere in January 2023, the same as Season 1 and Season 5. Regarding the season length, reports said it would probably be around 19 to 22 episodes. 

Show mainstays, including Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, and KJ Apa, are set to return for the seventh season. Additionally, long-standing cast members like Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Madchen Amick, Erinn Westbrook, Charles Melton, and Drew Ray Tanner are expected to return for the drama. 

The show dealt with scenarios from cults, alternate universe, and serial killers to prison, gangsters, superpowers, and the rum trade. Hence the seventh season’s plot cannot be guessed for now. Additionally, creators have yet to announce the plot details for the final season. 

What are Camila Mendes’ Upcoming Projects?

Mendes will team up with Rudy Mancuso in Wonderland Sound and Vision and Amazon Studios’ film Música. Additionally, Mancuso will direct and play the lead role, while Mendes joins as the lead and part of the executive production team. 

The film will center around a young man, played by Mancuso, who always has a tune that plays on loop in his head. It’s a coming-of-age romance where viewers will witness Mancuso’s character facing growing pains in life. While there are not many details as to the character of Mendes, she is expected to play the male lead’s love interest. 

Mancuso, for his part, is thrilled to have Camila on the team. He added that with her, it would be a story-telling of an American-Brazilian tale through the eyes of the synesthete. Mancuso believed that her cultural knowledge of Brazil would add authenticity to the film. 

Fans of Mendes can still expect to have more Riverdale content until next year for the seventh season. Camila Mendes will indeed have her hands full filming both Riverdale and Música.
