‘Vampare Diaries’ Tells Competition To ‘Bite Me’

Facing all original competition, including the hyper-hyped “FlashForward” debut, The CW’s new hit series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES held its ground, and held 100% of its audience last week among women 18-34 (2.6/8), adults 18-34 (1.8/6), women 18-49 (2.3/6), teens (2.3/9) and total viewers (3.8mil), according to Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009. In fact, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES improved over last week among adults 18-49 (1.7/5).

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES easily won the 8:00-9:00p.m. hour with female teens (3.1/13) and teens (2.3/9).

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is also delivering solid year-to-year time period growth (versus an original SMALLVILLE), improving 6% in adults 18-34, 73% in women 18-34, +44% in women 18-49, +138% in female teens and +44% in teens.

Now in its 5th season, SUPERNATURAL has seen its ratings grow over last season by 36% with women 18-34 (1.5/4), 9% in adults 18-34 (1.2/3) and 17% in women 18-49 (1.4/3).

SUPERNATURAL faced tougher competition (against the “Grey’s Anatomy” and “CSI” premieres), and still retained 92% of last week’s adults 18-34 rating (1.2/3), 100% of its adults 18-49 audience (1.2/3), 100% of its women 18-49 (1.4/3) and 96% in total viewers (2.66mil).

In its first night against all original competition, The CW’s Thursday is up year-to-year in key demos, +7% in adults 18-34 (1.5/5), +54% in women 18-34 (2.0/6), +29 percent in women 18-49 (1.8/5), +57% in female teens (2.2/9) and +6% in total teens.
