Will the ‘Stranger Things’ Spin-Offs Feature Fan-Favorite Characters?

With the success of Netflix’s Stranger Things, it’s not a surprise to anyone that spin-offs are in the works. Creators and showrunners, Matt and Ross Duffer, have confirmed that they are planning Stranger Things spin-offs after the series concludes.

Appearing on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, the Duffer brothers revealed what they’ve heard about the spin-offs.

“I’ve read these rumors that there’s gonna be an Eleven [Millie Bobby Brown] spin-off, that there’s gonna be a Steve [Joe Keery] and Dustin [Gaten Matarazzo] spin-off or that it’s another number.” the brother

“That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it’s very different.” the brothers confirm.

Instead, the brothers are planning to attach the Stranger Things spin-offs to the original series through “storytelling sensibility.”

Will the Duffer Brothers Be Involved In The Stranger Things Spin-Offs?

Will the Duffer brothers be the ones telling that story? That’s not exactly their plan.  Ultimately, they hope to “pass the baton to someone else” to take the reigns of any potential spin-offs.

“The idea, ultimately, is to pass the baton to someone else, someone who’s hopefully really talented and passionate,” Matt Duffer confirms. “Even the idea of Ross and I, say, doing a pilot and leaving it, it just
feels silly to me. You really need to be there from the beginning to end. I think we need to find a partner to help us with that.”

Earlier in 2022, the siblings revealed they already had an idea in mind for another series.

“We do have an idea for a spin-off that we’re super excited about… but we haven’t told anyone the idea yet, much less written it.” they teased.

While they did confirm that the premise would be “very, very different” from what fans would likely expect, they did note that Finn Wolfhard (who plays Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things) – had
actually already guessed what they had in mind.

They added: “Aside from Finn, no one else knows!”

While Stranger Things spin-offs won’t focus on characters from the main series, we still have no doubt that fans will love whatever is coming next from the franchise!
