Walking Dead star Steven Yeun is set to join director Bong Joon-ho’s upcoming film. Joining Yeun is Robert Pattinson, who has also signed on for the project.

According to Deadline, Yeun, 38, and Pattinson, 36, will star in the currently untitled film, which is based on the Edward Ashton novel Mickey7. Bong, best known for directing 2019’s Parasite, will write, direct and produce for his production company Offscreen.

The film is inspired by the novel. But insiders say that Bong’s past experience with adaptations, it could mean that his version may be slightly different from the novel’s.

The book follows Mickey7 – a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there is a mission that is too dangerous – even suicidal – the crew turns to Mickey.

After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

Yeun and Pattinson will join Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Naomi Ackie in the movie. And Pattinson is expected to play the protagonist, but no other details have been revealed.

The project will be a reunion for Yeun and Bong, as they previously worked together on Netflix’s drama Okja in 2017.

Fans of Steven Yeun can catch him next in Jordan Peele’s Nope, which releases on July 22!
