‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot And More!

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2

Fans have waited impatiently for the next installment of the live action adaptation of the Winx Club series. We’re happy to report that Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 is on its way to Netflix soon!

Based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Winx Club, this series gives the original source material an edgy twist from a strong cast. But with 8 seasons of material to pull from, what’s next for Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2? What will happen to the magical students of Alfea? And when can we expect to see this season hit the streaming service?

Here’s everything we currently know about the show.

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 Production

On February 18, 2021, Netflix UK & Ireland tweeted, “BREAKING FAIRY NEWS… Fate: The Winx Saga will return for a second season!” Fans were ecstatic that the first six episodes of Fate would not stand alone.

In July of 2021, the cast and crew began filming across Ireland. Production finally wrapped in November 2021.

If they finished in November 2021, where’s the second season of Fate? Shouldn’t it be out on Netflix by now?

With shows like Fate, post-production takes an awful lot of time and dedication. Special effects are no joke with any fantasy series. Showrunner and creator Brian Young tweeted in January 2022, “We’re still working on it, and will be for a while! I know it seems like it takes forever, but a show like #FateTheWinxSaga has a complicated and intense post-production process. Luckily, we’ve got an amazing team of editors, vfx artists, composers, music supervisors, sound designers, colorists and more to see us through it. And rest assured, everyone is working their butts off every single day to make sure we’re giving you the best version of the show we can.”

We definitely would rather they put the time and effort into doing it right the first time rather than rushing to release it!

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 Plot

As the crew works furiously on completing post-production, we can only speculate what’s to come for Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2. Brian Young explained that “The six episodes in season one only scratched the surface of this incredibly rich world and the powerful fairies who inhabit it.”

Let’s take a look at where we left off last season (aka spoiler alert time!).

As Bloom battled the Burned Ones, she managed to sprout her wings: the first fairy to successfully do so in years. Wings enable you to tap into a deeper, older magic that not even the staff at Alfea can access. She was only able to do it for a few minutes before collapsing. But now that she’s unlocked this power, she’ll certainly spend Season 2 trying to grow stronger. If she can access the power of the Dragon Flame more consistently, she’ll be able to defeat the Burned Ones permanently.

Now that Bloom can sprout wings, we anticipate the other fairies will work to sprout their own as well. The biggest mystery is why she was able to conjure the wings when others haven’t been able to. Hopefully she figures out how and why she can use her wings. And we might learn the truth about her origins and parents. Does something about her past make her more powerful than her peers?

At the end of Season 1, Rosalind killed Farah Dowling with Queen of Solaria’s help. That means she reigns over Alfea College. She’ll push Bloom harder than ever before so she can grow stronger. Likely, she’ll push all the students in order to use them as soldiers for the anticipated impending war.

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 Cast

So far, we know that Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 will have practically the same cast members as Season 1. The only one likely not returning is Farah Dowling, played by Eve Best, as she met her end at the hands of Rosalind. But you never can discount the possibility of a good flashback that includes her.

Returning, we have Abigail Cowen as Bloom, Precious Mustapha as Aisha, Eliot Salt as Terra, and Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella. There’s also Elisha Applebaum as Musa, Sadie Soverall as Beatrix, Freddie Thorp as Riven, Danny Griffin as Sky, Theo Graham as Dane, Jacob Dudman as Sam, Ken Duken as Andreas, and Rob James-Collier as Silva.

Of course, Rosalind will return, played by Lesley Sharp, along with Alex MacQueen as Harvey, and Ken Duken as Andreas.

In addition to the original cast, we have three new characters joining the ensemble. Let’s learn more about them.

  • Paulina Chávez as Flora: An earth fairy to cousin Terra, she’s easy-going but hides a dark secret.
  • Éanna Hardwick as Sebastian: He’s a student with an incredible mind, but his morals are questionable.
  • Brandon Grace as Grey: This trans male will have a relationship with Aisha and hides a secret.

What character doesn’t have secrets this season?
