DVD Review: Gossip Girl: Season 2

It’s senior year for our beloved Upper East Siders, and the drama is at an all-time high. Applying for college is only one small part of the story, as new romances (and some not-so-new romances) bloom and fade, scandals erupt at every turn and alliances shift even faster than Gossip Girl can send an update. Families and reputations are destroyed and made; so are fortunes. And even the strongest friendships are tested. In this sizzling 25-episode, 7-disc Season Two, you never know what’s next for Serena, Blair, Dan, Nate, Jenny, Chuck and Vanessa. Good thing Gossip Girl is always there to provide us with the latest, juiciest info!

Review:
Gossip Girl is a guilty pleasure that I don’t want to admit I like – but secretly I do. The series provides a sinful look into the lives of New York’s Upper East Siders.

Season 2 doesn’t hold back at all on drama. It’s senior year, and that means time to apply for college, and time to do whatever it takes to get in. None take it so far as Blair Waldorf, who decided from very young age that Yale was the school for her. However, Yale only takes one student from Constance a year… and it looks like they have their eyes set on someone else. From student/teacher affairs, to socialite crime, to intense love triangles… Gossip Girl has it all.

The scandals never seem to stop, and the romances seem sizzle and fade quicker than you can blink your eyes – all except for one that is. Blair and Chuck be still my heart already! If Season 3 rips them apart – the writers are going to be getting a strongly worded letter from me.

Josh Schwartz has done a great job with this series. After coming off of The OC he managed to create a new series that basically continues that shameless look into the lives of the rich and powerful. While The OC still holds a dear place in my heart – it is wonderful to watch a similar series that doesn’t make me want to bang my head against something every time Mischa Barton says “hey.” The acting, for the most part is quite solid with Gossip Girl .

Special features on this DVD release are strong – including over 4 hours of bonus features: exclusive pre-publication book excerpt from Gossip Girl: I Will Always Love You, un-aired scenes, downloadable audiobook, Chasing Dorota webisodes, gag real, and a number of featurettes. It’s a must have for any Gossip Girl fan.
