Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles Talk Memories, On-Screen Nudity, and More at Salute to Supernatural

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles

There’s nothing quite like watching the Supernatural dynamic duo, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, together on stage. And their latest get-together at Salute to Supernatural Toronto 2022 was no exception. We got the same camaraderie chemistry that we’ve come to expect from these two on-screen brothers!

With the way they banter back and forth, it’s hard to believe they aren’t actually related. In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights from the Salute to Supernatural Q&A this past weekend!

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles

Who Was Jensen Ackles’ Favorite Sam?

One of the fans who approached the mic asked Jensen a difficult question; now that he’s played two characters with siblings named Samie, which one was his favorite?

Jared turned promptly to Jensen and said, “Don’t get it wrong,” to which the audience laughed.

Apart from Dean Winchester, the fan was referring to Jensen’s character Eric Brady from Days of Our Lives, who he portrayed from 1997 to 2000. He had a twin sister named Sami on the show. Jensen answered sweetly by saying, “As her twin, I couldn’t have asked for a better sister to play opposite me, but with Jared, I couldn’t have asked for a better brother to play opposite me.”

To make sure he didn’t stay sappy for too long, he finished with “And that is my diplomatic way of getting the hell out of that question.”

Jared Padalecki on Possibly Joining The Boys

Ever since we got confirmation that Jensen Ackles was cast as Soldier Boy on Eric Kripke’s new show The Boys, we hoped that Jared Padalecki would join in the Supernatural cast and crew reunion.

Jared said that when Kripke sent him a text wishing him a happy 40th birthday, he once again extended the offer to have Jared join The Boys. He tried to encourage him to say yes by saying, “Jensen said you would be up for it.” Jared jokingly said he’d better start doing “squats and deadlifts.”

That’s because earlier in the conversation, Jensen talked about how practically every white boy in The Boys has shown his bare backside on the show. He jokingly wondered who wanted to see that. And the crowd erupted into voices of people affirming that they were indeed interested in that camera angle on Jensen.

Jensen told Jared that, “I hope you do it,” of course referring to Jared joining The Boys.

Instead, Jared asked, “What, show my ass?” to which Jensen said, “Sure…yes, I do hope you go over and do something on The Boys because it’s a hell of a lot of fun…I hope you get the same experience I had, which is showing up the first day of filming and being buttass naked in front of the entire cast and crew.”

After this whole exchange, Jensen and Jared shook their heads, saying, “This used to be a wholesome show. You used to be able to bring your family.”

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles’ Favorite Parts of Supernatural

One fan came up to the mic and started by saying it was her and her boyfriend’s 2 year anniversary. After getting congratulations from both Jensen and Jared, she told them that she’s gotten her partner to start bingeing Supernatural with her and they’re up to Season 6. She asked what the two stars’ favorite parts of the show were. The reason? She wanted to give her boyfriend specific moments to look forward to.

Jared told her that while he loved Season 6, he thought Season 8 was great. Jensen answered more broadly, saying “There’s a lot left. A lot of stories…” after joking that they weren’t even halfway through.

This answer falls in line with his statement he made about the upcoming prequel show The Winchesters. When Deadline announced in June 2021 that Chaos Machine Productions was working on a prequel series to Supernatural, Jensen said that when he and his wife Danneel “formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story…I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”

More Supernatural?

We’re excited to see where that exploration of those stories leads us – especially if it leads us to a Supernatural reboot. On whether or not 15 seasons was all we would ever get of Supernatural, Jensen has been quoted as saying, “I don’t think Jared and I hung up the boots, so to speak, as a permanent move. It was more of like, 15 years, we need to just press pause. It’s a long time, and come up for air and see what that looks like, and this is what it looks like.”

Missing your weekly dose of Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles? You’re not alone. We are too! Events like the Salute to Supernatural remind us what we love about these brothers. And they have us hoping that we will get more Supernatural at some point in the future.
