When Could ‘Bullet Train’ Come Out On Streaming Platforms?

Bullet Train Movie

When could Bullet Train come out on streaming? The film just released in theaters on August 5, 2022. And the good news is you won’t have to wait long for the action comedy to release on DVD and then head to streaming.

Bullet Train opened in the top spot at the box office this weekend with $30.1 million in ticket sales. The film bumped DC League of Super-Pets out of first and into second place with 11.2 million in ticket sales. And the creepy, brilliant good Nope rounded out the the top 3 coming in just under $8.5 million in gross ticket sales.

The International Debut of Bullet Train

Bullet Train’s international release came a little early for those in France, Germany and the UK, all who got the film in mid-July. As of August 5, however, the only countries where the film as yet to premiere are Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Italy, and Japan – who will have the film in theaters by September 1.

Bullet Train‘s Official Description

Bullet Train stars Brad Pitt as Ladybug, an unlucky assassin determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails.

However, fate has other plans. And Ladybug’s latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe. Not to mention that this all happens on the world’s fastest train – and everyone has connected (though conflicting) objectives.

The end of the line is just the beginning for this non-stop thrill-ride through modern-day Japan.

Where Can I Watch Bullet Train?

Since the film just premiered in the US on August 5, the only place to watch Bullet Train currently is in the theaters.

The film will release on-demand along with Blu-ray/DVD in the coming months and then head to streaming after those releases occur.

When Will Bullet Train Come Out on Streaming? The Film’s Expected Release Date

While there is no official release date that Sony has announced yet for Bullet Train to hit streaming, here’s what we do know.

IGN is reporting that, thanks to a deal between Sony and Netflix, Bullet Train (not unlike Sony’s Uncharted earlier this year, which debuted on Netflix last Friday, August 5) will head to Netflix after its initial theatrical release. While again, there is no official streaming release date currently, it could be as early as late 2022.

Newsweek also reports that deal mentioned above is expected to be in place for 5 years total (the deal was signed in April 2021). So they also expect the film to hit Netflix late this year or sometime early next year.

There is also a deal with Disney in place as well, for what’s called the “Pay 2 Window“, which means that roughly 8 months after a film’s release, Disney+ or Hulu will also get the film.

Possible Netflix Release Date? (Speculation)

But let’s go back to Netflix for minute. Even though an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, if we do the math based on Uncharted‘s Netflix premiere, here’s where we get.

Uncharted premiered in theaters on February 18. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 81 days after it opened in theater. 87 days after that, the film began streaming on Netflix. So, in total, it was 168 days it took Uncharted to arrive on Netflix, roughly 5 and half months.

Bullet Train

If we apply that same logic to Bullet Train, it would be around January 20, 2023 when we see the film release on streaming. Again, there’s no official release date yet, so we’re speculating here – but based on Sony’s previous titles, we think Bullet Train is likely to follow the same pattern.

And the good news is we’ll likely see the film release on Blu-ray and DVD before this date, in roughly 90 days around the week of November 3rd.

We’ll keep you posted when Sony releases the official Bullet Train release date for streaming! In the meantime, let us know if you’ve checked out the film yet? Be sure to check out our review here and let us know your thoughts on the film!
