Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton: Friendship, A Christmas Movie, and Talking Through Fax
Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s friendship has been strong for years. And the two have yet another collaboration planned as Cyrus will appear alongside Parton in an upcoming holiday project for NBC.
Parton, who is actually Cyrus’ godmother, will star in Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. And in addition to Cyrus, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmie Allen and Zach Williams will also appear in the movie, as will Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gasteyer and Angel Parker. Even Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, will make an appearance in the film.
The film will feature Dolly Parton in the titular role, where she’ll try to share a unique “mountain magic” from Dollywood with viewers. Throughout the chaos, Parton will find herself taking a journey guided by the mysterious appearances of her Three Wise Mountain Men.
Parton will also executive produce the project alongside Sam Haskell and David Rambo, who is writing the film.
Joe Lazarov will direct with David Rambo writing the project. Magnolia Hill Productions will produce. No word yet on a release date, as the project still shows as pre-production at the moment.
Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus Communicate Through Fax
Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton may well be conversing about the movie via fax in the coming months. Cyrus has revealed earlier this year that every time the two try to coordinate or stay in touch, it’s actually done through fax.
“It was amazing because, you know, she was doing it for the phones, yet every time I coordinate and kind of communicate with Dolly, it’s still through fax.” Cyrus reveals.
“So I don’t know what she’s talking about. She’s rarely on the phone,” Cyrus adds. “Well, we do use the phone, but she does a fax, and then someone scans the fax, and then they put it into a text message, and then that gets sent to me, and it’s always signed.”
While sending faxes may seem like a distant past time, Cyrus also reveals that Parton has encouraged her write letters.
“I’ve started to try and make my own letters because there’s something so amazing just about a connection. It’s just not casual. You know that she took the time to get out, I guess, her typewriter.” Cyrus explains.
