‘Vampire Diaries’ And ‘Supernatural’ Make A Killer Team

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES scared up a strong audience during its first October (otherwise known as “Vampire History Month”) airing, according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES soared to 100% year-to-year growth in The CW’s target demographic, women 18-34, with a 2.6/8, good for a second place ranking in the time period. VAMPIRE also wooed more female teens than any other show on broadcast last night with a 2.8/11, an absolutely batty 155% increase from the time period a year ago. Additionally TVD grew 20% year-to-year in adults 18-34 with a 1.8/6 and 69% in women 18-49 with a 2.2/6. The show also equaled its bloody good total viewer number from a week ago of 3.5M. The episode, titled “You’re Undead To Me,” was mighty fine, btw.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and SUPERNATURAL combined for another strong Thursday for The CW, with impressive year-to-year growth across all demos including 58% in women 18-34 (1.9/6), 38% in female teens (1.8/7), 14% in adults 18-34 (1.6/5) and 23% in women 18-49 (1.6/4).

SUPERNATURAL, with its “Fallen Idols” episode that featured great stuff in a wax museum with James Dean, Abraham Lincoln and Paris Hilton (!), grew 8% year-to-year in both adults 18-34 (1.4/4) and women 18-34 (1.3/3).
