‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Cast Update: Catherine Keener Joins the Film

The Joker: Folie à Deux cast is growing! Catherine Keener is the latest star to be cast alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga for the Joker sequel.

According to Deadline, Kenner, 63, has landed a mystery role in the upcoming musical sequel. The news of her casting comes on the heels of last week’s news that Brendan Gleeson had joined the ensemble.

Additionally, it’s also known that Lady Gaga is taking on the role of Harley Quinn for the film. And Joaquin Phoenix will be back as the Joker aka Arthur Fleck. Also returning is Deadpool star, Zazie Beetz, who will reprise her Sophie Dumond.

Pre-production on the film is currently underway for the Todd Philips-directed psychological thriller, with filming set to get underway in December. Joker: Folie à Deux is slated for theatrical release on October 4, 2024.

Joker: Folie à Deux Has Big Shoes to Fill

Expectations are high for Joker: Folie à Deux, seeing as how 2019’s Joker took home a record-breaking $96.2 million at the box office during its opening weekend. In total, it took $1.07 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.

Joaquin Phoenix and Hildur Guonadottir took home Academy Awards, for Best Actor and Original Music Score, respectively. And overall, the film was nominated for 11 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for Phillips.
