Stranger Things: The Experience Turns Atlanta Upside Down!

Stranger Things: The Experience

Are you ready to geek out over Stranger Things, Atlanta? If so, then you’re in luck! The new Stranger Things: The Experience is turning Atlanta upside down after a massively successful debut at Pullman Yards in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 22! This event comes directly on the heels of the recent tour stops in New York, San Francisco, and London!

So what exactly can fans expect? Here’s the inside look!

What to Expect with Stranger Things: The Experience

When visitors arrive at the venue, they’ll find themselves walking into Hawkins in 1986. You’ll enter a line for a sleep study at Hawkins National Laboratory. And when it’s your turn, you’ll enter the labs for a series of tests and challenges. It’s part escape room, part immersion, and a whole lot of impressively rad technology. (Seriously, the tech is on a whole different level than what I’ve seen in tour events before)

No pictures are allowed during this portion of the Experience – so we’re keeping this spoiler-free for you all!

Mix-Tape Is Awaiting You

After you exit the Experience, you’ll spill into Mix-Tape, which feels just like Starcourt Mall’s food court. And this section is somehow even cooler than the Experience itself.

You can spend as much time as you like wandering around the different sections, which include Palace Arcade, Scoops Ahoy, The Upside Bar, Surfer Boy Pizza, Family Video, and several geek-out-worthy photo opportunities.

Once I exited the Experience, I personally booked it to Surfer Boy Pizza for a wrap, slice of pizza, and a little corndog snack.

The Upside Bar

After that, I headed over to the bar to check out a few of the Stranger Things-themed cocktails, which included a take on the classic Old Fashioned, appropriately called The Demogorgon. I also tasted the gin-based cocktail, The Upside Down.

Here’s a look at everything that’s on the menu. There are also mocktails, beer and wine, and other beverages available as well.

However, by far, the best cocktail of the evening was the Yuri Gonna Love This, which combines dark chocolate liquor with peanut butter whiskey and cold brew. And then, it’s topped off with whipped cream and candied peanut butter bits. To be clear, it’s not just Yuri that’s going to live it – it’s going to be everyone.

Despite my initial concerns that it would be too heavy and sweet, I was happily surprised at how light and balanced it was. I can’t recommend it enough.

Scoops Ahoy

After finishing our drinks, we headed over to Scoops Ahoy for some ice cream and an adorable photo op. The Experience has a number of actors walking around Mix-Tape as well, and they’re completely in character with 1986. So if you ask them to take a photo, you may have to explain to them what your cellphone is. But I promise it’ll be a fun encounter!

The Byers’ Living Room

It wouldn’t be a Stranger Things event without a recreation of the Byers’ living room and the famous lights. And the Experience doesn’t cut any corners. This whole scene is set up perfectly with so much attention paid to every detail. Even the newspaper on the coffee table is snatched right from 1986!

Photo Opportunities

Aside from the food and drink spots and some great shopping areas, there’s also no shortage of photo opportunities that will immerse you in the show itself, including a close encounter with Vecna.

While the lighting might be a bit challenging for photos in some areas, it certainly does a wonderful job setting the stage while you’re in the space.

My Experience

We spent probably 2 hours in Mix-Tape, and honestly, I could have spent two more there as well. It’s such a fun area, and when you have your whole nerd herd with you (as I did!), it will make for an unforgettable evening.

Here’s a look at my experience. Quite simply put, it’s geeking out on an epic scale!
