David Harbour is starting to geek out over the upcoming Gran Turismo movie.

The Stranger Things star, who has been cast opposite Orlando Blood for the upcoming flick, recently spoke with Collider about his experience on set. And the actor didn’t shy away from talking about how delighted he is to be working with director Neill Blomkamp on the project.

“Neill is so cool and such a good director that it’s really been a joy to work on this movie, and this movie’s going to be… Talk about not what you expect, with him at the helm there’s a visceralness to this movie, to this video game world that is so cool. I can’t wait for you to see this movie.” Harbour, 47, tells Collider.

Gran Turismo will be based on the PlayStation racing video game series of the same name. And David Harbour also didn’t hide his excitement about the film’s subject matter either.

“Yeah. Sim racing, man, who knew? Those guys are incredible.” Harbour adds.

A Little Background on the Grand Turismo Movie

The movie will feature rising star Archie Madekwe, who is best known for his work in 2019’s Midsommar. And Spice Girl Geri Horner has also been cast. It’s based on a true story that follows a Gran Turismo player. And after his gaming abilities lead him to win a series of Nissan competitions, he becomes a professional racing driver.

Madekwe will play the teenage driver, while Harbour stars as the retired racer who teaches him to drive. And Horner will star as Madekwe’s mother while Bloom is set to play a marketing executive.

Gran Turismo is currently filming and is set for release in the U.S. on August 11, 2023.

In a statement, Asad Qizilbash of PlayStation Productions, said: “As one of PlayStation’s longest-standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring ‘Gran Turismo’ to life in an exciting way.” Asad Qizilbash of PlayStation Productions says in a recent statement.

“We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision of this inspiring true story of gamer turned professional race car driver,” Qizilbash adds.
