Ryan Reynolds Wants a Christmas ‘Deadpool’ Movie

Deadpool Christmas

Ryan Reynolds is expressing his goal to make a Deadpool Christmas movie one day. In fact, Reynolds reveals that he even had one in the works. However, the project was shelved after Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019.

Despite the setback, Reynolds, 46, isn’t giving up hope.

“Four years ago, [‘Deadpool’ co-writers] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox. And it never got made.” Reynolds tells The Big Issue.

“Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical. But it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.” he adds.

But First, Ryan Reynolds Is Working on Deadpool 3

But before another Deadpool movie can enter the pipeline, Ryan Reynolds has to finish up Deadpool 3.

Recently, Reynolds spoke about how excited he was that Hugh Jackman agreed to return as Wolverine for the film. After “six straight years” of Reynolds asking, Jackman finally caved, though Reynolds doesn’t think he’s the reason why.

“It was ultimately Hugh that said, ‘I think I am ready to come back.'” Reynolds notes

“All we had to do was sell it to (producer) Kevin Feige, which didn’t take long, and the next thing you knew here we are.” he adds.

Deadpool 3 filming hasn’t started yet. Thought the project is currently in pre-production, according to IMDB Pro. In fact, according to the platform, there is already a Deadpool 3 release date set for November 8, 2024.

Meanwhile, Shawn Levy is set to direct the sequel with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Reynolds being responsible for the script.

Deadpool 3 Won’t Be Disney-fied

Rhett previously told fans not to “worry” about the rising fan fear with the third installment. With concerns being raised that Disney’s purchase of Fox could lead to the studio “Disney-fying” the Merc with a Mouth, Rhett assures fans that they have Disney’s support.

“Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke,'” Rhett states. “But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing. Because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time.”

“And I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success. So hopefully, it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support. And that’s a great thing to feel.” he adds.
