The ‘M3GAN’ Sequel Is Coming in 2025
It’s good news for fans of M3GAN. There’s a M3GAN sequel officially in the works!
The project, which is currently titled M3GAN 2.0, will be a follow-up to the hit 2023 horror, which follows an AI doll who develops chilling self-awareness. In fact, the sequel already has a planned release date of January 17, 2025.
Writer Akela Cooper is returning to write the script for the sequel. And stars Allison Williams (Gemma) and Violet McGraw (Cady) are slated to return to their respective roles as well.
As of publication, it’s not known if director Gerard Johnstone will return to direct the follow-up, or if M3GAN portrayers Amie Donald or Jenna Davis will reprise the role.
Talk of a M3GAN Sequel Happened Before the First Film Released
Blumhouse boss Jason Blum admitted that the film was responsible for him breaking his “cardinal rule” on sequels. Blum revealed that the horror flick had him considering a second film much earlier than he normally does.
“After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work. So, we broke our cardinal rule. And we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released.” Blum revealed.
“I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do.” he added.
Blum also noted that studio Atomic Monster pitched the style and admitted: “every detail matters”.
“The title treatment was from Atomic Monster. It came to us with that title, with the 3 for an ‘e’. It’s all important.” Blum notes. “When you get something to connect with culture, it’s very tricky. It happens so rarely. Every detail matters. You never know what actually did it, but the title certainly played a part.”
