Creed III hasn’t even hit theaters, and star Michael B. Jordan is already confirming his plans for Creed IV.

Jordan stars in the upcoming Creed III, which releases in theaters this March. The film marks the third film in the Creed– franchise, which sees Jordan returning to the role of Adonis ‘Donnie’ Creed – the son of Rocky Balboa’s former opponent Apollo Creed. Jordan is wearing a few more hats this time around as he’s also the film’s director.

Creed IV Is Happening

Speaking in a recent interview with IGN, Jordan was asked if there would be a fourth film.

“For sure,” Jordan disclosed. “I just want to expand the ‘Creed’-verse within reason. But definitely expect other things around Creed for sure.”

Jonathan Majors, who plays Creed’s nemesis in Creed III, has also spoken about the future of Creed going in a different direction. Speaking to NME, Majors revealed, “Michael is really trying to do something different with this Creed. Something that’s a bit more intimate.”

“With intimacy comes complexity. It’s he and I. It’s a story about these two men trying to work something out, and it’s very different from the others.” Major adds.

This sequel will be the first Rocky spin-off not to feature Sylvester Stallone. However, Jordan insists the “spirit” of Rocky Balboa is still very much present.

“I think that Sly let it be known that he wasn’t coming back for this one but I think, you know, his essence and his spirit… there’s always going to be a little bit of Rocky within Adonis,” Jordan says. “But this is a ‘Creed’ franchise, and we really want to build this story and this world around [Adonis Creed] moving forward.”

Creed III releases in theaters of March 3, 2023. And in the meantime, Jordan has an additional 21 projects in various stages of development. He’s currently attached to a treatment for an I Am Legend sequel as well as upcoming Thomas Crown Affair project. Both projects will see him in a producer role as well as in front of the camera.
