‘Ant-Man’ Star Evangeline Lilly Wants a Standalone Wasp Movie
Evangeline Lilly, who Marvel fans know best as Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp from the Ant-Man movies, wants a standalone Wasp movie.
Lilly, 43, is reprising her role as Hope in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which releases on February 17. And as Lilly has been doing press for the film, she’s mentioned her desire for her character to be front and center in a standalone movie.
Lilly Thinks Its Time for a Standalone Wasp Movie
“Well, I’m going to make a pitch that I think it might be time for Hope spin-off… for a Wasp standalone film,” Lilly said to Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of the film.
“Do we agree? Anybody? Going once… going twice.” Lilly jokingly added.
Lilly, who was previously well-known for her role as Kate Austen on ABC’s hit series Lost, has been a part of the MCU since 2015’s Ant-Man. Eight years later, she finally feels like an established member of the Marvel franchise.
“When we first came into the universe, it was so established with Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, and all the original gangsters. And we were just like these new kids on the block who were trying to earn our stripes,” Lilly revealed. “Now all of a sudden we’re in the center at the launching point of Phase 5. And it feels really cool.”
Lilly Spoke Up About Her Input for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Lilly had also previously spoken about she had input into the script for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, stating that she loved sharing her opinion.
“I have a lot of opinions. And I’d love to share them and I’d love to give you my thoughts on all of this, “Lilly stated. “And to do it with confidence and to do it with clarity, instead of, before I even speak, already… brushing my own ideas under the carpet, which is an old habit of mine. Like, ‘Yeah, this probably isn’t a very good idea. But…’ or, ‘You don’t have to use this, I’m just going to tell you what it is.'”
How do things play out for Hope van Dyne / The Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. We’ll find out next week when the film releases.

I’d rather see Groot get a standalone movie. Or Mantis. Or Kate Bishop. Or pretty much anyone but Evangeline Lily.
