‘Covert Affairs’ 4.5 Episode Recap And Review: Annie Not Dead And Calder Isn’t A Bad Guy

Since day one during the first mission of season four, it’s been unclear about whether or not Hill Harper’s character is a bad guy on the show, but it’s obvious that he’s up to something. In the opening scenes, Calder Michaels is seen firing rounds at Annie in an elevator “Mission Impossible” style, which is supposed to make Covert Affairs fan believe Walker is dead, but it’s difficult for me to believe Piper Perabo would be killed of the series, when she’s the lead actress. The writers may want CA fans to think Annie is finished, but it’s really just a ploy to get people like me excited about future episodes.

Here’s why I don’t buy the whole “Calder Michaels is a villain” storyline: Henry Wilcox. I suspect that Calder only agreed to work with Henry so that he can put his sleazy behind back in the slammer. What I don’t understand why Gregory Itzin’s character has a personal vendetta against Arthur, when he isn’t the person responsible for Jai’s death. If I’m not mistaken, Lena from last season was the brains of that operation.

The way I view Harper on Covert Affairs is the same way I look at Daniel Sunjata on Graceland. He may appear to be on the wrong side of the law, and his methods are unethical, but he really has everyone’s best interests at heart. Unless my theories are completely incorrect, feel free to disagree in the comments.

All-new episodes of Covert Affairs air Tuesdays at 9p EST on USA.
