George R.R. Martin has a new project on his desk. He’s set to serve as the writer and executive producer for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.

The series, which HBO just gave a series order, was announced at the Warner Bros. Discovery presentation to investors and media last week. And while details on the project are still scarce, we can confirm a few details. The series is currently in the “script” stage of development,” and we do have an official logline for the show.

The Official Logline for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight

A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

The Series Will Be Based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will be based on George R.R. Martin’s novel Tales of Dunk and Egg, which was initially published in 2013.

Ira Parker, most recently known for her work as a writer and executive producer on House of the Dragon, will also write the series alongside Martin, 74.

No word yet on a potential premiere date for the new series. But we’ll keep you posted as more details surface.
