“I Would Do a ‘Bridesmaids’ Sequel this Afternoon”: Melissa McCarthy Game to Return for a Sequel

Melissa McCarthy on Bridesmaids Sequel

Melissa McCarthy is making it known that she’s more than willing to make a Bridesmaid sequel.

The 52-year-old actress who played Megan Price in the hit 2011 comedy reveals that she’s willing to wait decades for Bridesmaids 2, if that’s what it takes. And she’s hoping that writers Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig – who had the lead role of Annie Walker – will ask her to make a sequel.

“I would do a Bridesmaids sequel this afternoon, right now,” McCarthy says in an interview with People Magazine.

“Should we team back up?’ I’d be like, ‘Yes. Yeah, we should.’ ” Says Melissa McCarthy.

“That group of women was the most magical thing ever. Almost all of us were really good friends already. I think it was such a magical time,” she continues. “[Even if we are] all in our nineties and Kristen and Annie are like, ‘Should we team back up?’ I’d be like, ‘Yes. Yeah, we should.’ “

While the movie was a massive success, making over $300 million against a budget of $30 million, it wasn’t the most professional set, according to McCarthy. She describes her castmates (Maya Rudolph, Rose Burne, Rebel Wilson, and Ellie Kemper) as all “terribly unprofessional.” She also includes herself in that statement, noting that they all struggled to keep a straight face during filming, even when they weren’t in front of the camera.

“Oh, my God. Just being around that many funny people where truly it was like people dropping to the ground because we couldn’t get air in.” McCarthy recalls.

“From a distance, it must have looked like we all had food poisoning because there were just times where we’d be like… You can’t be around that group of humans and not just be beside yourself,” she adds.

One of her favorite memories from filming included a scene where the group went wedding dress shopping, “It just ended up being so funny. Also, just Kristen shoving 72 Jordan almonds in her mouth. There was a take where she must have had 40 in there.” she notes.

“And we were like, ‘Kristen’s going to choke.’ It was also terribly unprofessional acting because anyone who wasn’t on-camera was usually bent over and just shaking. None of us were behaving. Yeah, that and the dogs, I did enjoy all the dogs.” McCarthy adds.

Where Is Megan Now? McCarthy Weighs in On Where She Thinks Her Character Would Be in a Bridesmaids Sequel.

Where does Melissa McCarthy think her character, Megan, would be now? According to the star, she feels that Megan would still be very happy with Air Marshall Jon, who was played by her real-life husband Ben Falcone.

“[They’d be] running her trucking company. And they’re obviously private detectives, obviously, just to state what everybody knows,” McCarthy speculates. “I think they have matching denim jackets with each other’s image painted on it. I think they’re so happy. And they’re running a dog rescue, I’ll say that.”

While there’s no new movement regarding a Bridesmaids sequel, the interest is there, and the box office numbers would support it. So fans will just have to wait and see!
