“This is one of the most unique, entertaining, and special scripts I’ve ever read”: Elisabeth Moss on Upcoming Thriller ‘Shell’

Elisabeth Moss is signing on to star in the upcoming thriller Shell.
Moss, 40, will star alongside Kate Hudson and Kaia Gerber. And Moss’ The Handmaids Tale co-star, Max Minghella, is set to direct and produce. Additionally, Moss will also produce as well Fred Berger, Lindsey McManus, and Alicia Van Couvering.
The movie is set in a not-so-distant future where humanity’s obsession with youth and beauty has been taken to new extremes. Moss will play Samantha, a struggling actress who is given the opportunity to have a free trial at Shell, a pioneering company that promises to keep clients looking youthful forever.
Samantha finds not only her life but also her career transformed by the treatment. And she also develops a friendship with glamorous Shell CEO Zoe Shannon (Hudson). However, when a string of former Shell patients start to go missing in mysterious circumstances, including the social media star Chloe Benson (Gerber), Samantha begins to fear that she could be in danger herself.
Elisabeth Moss and Max Minghella Comment on the Upcoming Flick
“This is one of the most unique, entertaining, and special scripts I’ve ever read. And I am so honored to be a part of it as an actor and flattered that Max came to me with this character, who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever played before,” Elisabeth Moss says. “Having worked with Max for years on ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ I’m so thrilled to now be directed by him as I’m a huge fan of his as a filmmaker.”
“‘Shell’ packs a wildly entertaining genre movie with iconic characters and universal themes that are bound to have people talking long after they leave the theatre,” Minghella adds.
The script is being written by Jack Stanley. Though, it’s unclear what impact the writers’ strike will have on the production and potential filming schedules.
