From Guardians to Gotham? James Gunn Teases Chris Pratt’s Potential DCU Debut
James Gunn, the co-chairman of DC Studios, has recently stirred excitement among superhero fans by suggesting that Chris Pratt might join the DC Universe (DCU). Gunn, who directed Pratt in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, responded to a fan query on Threads about potential talks with Pratt, saying, “He’s a close friend. We talk about that all the time.”
This post has sparked speculation about Pratt’s possible involvement in future DC projects. The 45-year-old actor, known for his role as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has also expressed openness to the idea.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Pratt playfully suggested, “Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both,” referring to potentially working in both Marvel and DC universes.
While Pratt’s potential DC role remains speculative, another Guardians of the Galaxy alum, Dave Bautista, has been vocal about his interest in joining the DCU. The 55-year-old actor recently shared his fascination with playing Lex Luthor in a Superman movie. “I kind of became obsessed with that idea,” Bautista told ScreenRant, although the role has since been filled by Nicholas Hoult in Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.
Bautista, who played Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians films, expressed his continued interest in finding a place in the DC universe, stating, “I’d really be up for anything.” However, he also reflected on his Marvel experience, telling GQ, “I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down.”
As the DCU continues to evolve under Gunn’s leadership, the possibility of Marvel actors working on DC projects adds an intriguing dimension to the superhero space.
