Will George Clooney and Brad Pitt Steal the Show Again in Potential ‘Ocean’s Fourteen’?

Brad Pitt and George Clooney

Get ready, Ocean fans! George Clooney and Brad Pitt are about to grace the big screen once again as the legendary con men, Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan!

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and Clooney’s Smokehouse production company are hard at work on this highly anticipated project. The film chiefs are reportedly courting acclaimed director Edward Berger, the visionary behind the Oscar-nominated All Quiet on the Western Front, to helm the new Ocean’s flick.

While details about the plot remain tightly under wraps, Clooney himself hinted at the exciting possibilities. “We have a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ now, so we could end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,” the 63-year-old star revealed to Uproxx last year.

When pressed about whether the new installment would carry the moniker Ocean’s Fourteen, Clooney played coy, noting, “Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.'” This cryptic response has only fueled the anticipation among fans, who are eager to see how a new film in the franchise could further raise the stakes.

The original Ocean’s trilogy, helmed by the visionary Steven Soderbergh, grabbed us fans with its slick style, clever plotting, and the effortless chemistry of its star-studded ensemble. While Soderbergh has indicated that he considers his work on the franchise complete, the studio is determined to keep the legacy alive.

“When the studio approached me to see if I’d be involved in continuing the franchise, I told them no, because it just doesn’t feel like a move forward for me,” Soderbergh told Variety. “I’m chasing something else.”

In a mid-August Production Weekly alert, there was a notice for an “Untitled Oceans Project,” which is set to begin filming next month (and continue production through February 2025) at various locations across Europe. However, this flick will star Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, with Jay Roach as the director. The listing included the following description for the project:

In 1962, Elsie Brunner (Robbie), a stunning woman, attends a mansion party to pilfer valuable earrings. She encounters Jack Mason (Gosling), a handsome safecracker with the same intention. After stealing the earrings, they pretend to be a couple to elude suspicion. However, they develop a mutual dislike and separate after the party, with Elsie unknowingly taking the earrings. Later in Monte Carlo, they discover a priceless jewel owned by shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who had annihilated Jack’s wartime comrades. Seeking revenge, they plot to ruin Onassis financially by preventing his victory in the rigged Monaco Grand Prix and stealing the diamond. To succeed, they assemble a diverse team of men and women. Let the adventure begin!

We’ve seen these descriptions vary considerably by the time a film reaches the big screen, so take the above description with a grain of salt. But we’ll keep you all posted as more details surface on the future of the Ocean’s franchise!
