Synopsis

No matter how hard you try, you can’t break up with your past.

This Valentine’s Day, prepare for an unconventional love letter to action as Oscar® winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Loki) explodes onto the screen in his first leading role. Behind his facade as a mild-mannered realtor lies a deadly secret he’s desperate to escape. But in this game of cat and mouse, running isn’t an option.

From the adrenaline-fueled minds behind Nobody, Violent Night, and Bullet Train comes 87North’s latest pulse-pounding thriller that proves breaking up is hard to do—and surviving is even harder.

Quan transforms into Marvin Gable, a realtor navigating the quiet Milwaukee suburbs where picket fences hide dark secrets. His carefully constructed world shatters when a blood-red envelope arrives from Rose (Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose; West Side Story, Argylle)—the partner-in-crime he left for dead. And she’s back with a vengeance.

Suddenly, model homes become battlegrounds and open houses turn into explosive showdowns as Marvin is dragged back into the underground world he fought to forget. With his brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu; Tomb Raider, Warcraft), a merciless crime lord, joining the hunt, Marvin must face the demons of his past before they destroy his future.

  1. My wife and I were really excited to see Love Hurts because it felt like the perfect mix of action and romance—just what we were looking for with Valentine’s Day coming up! I’ve always loved Jackie Chan-style films, with their blend of high-energy stunts, humor, and heart, so seeing that influence in this movie made it an easy choice for us. Plus, with Valentine’s Day around the corner, it seemed like a great date night film that we could both enjoy together.
