Golden Globes Flop On TV
Sunday night’s (13Oct08) Golden Globe Awards TV coverage was the least watched
for over a decade.
Only 5.8 million people tuned in to watch the official hour long results show
on NBC, which replaced the canceled ceremony.
The coverage plummeted 71 per cent from last year’s (07) figures and it was
the least-watched Globes telecast since 1995, when only 3.6 million people
tuned into watch the winners and losers from the worlds of TV and film.
The Globes ceremony was canceled earlier this month (Jan08) after striking
Hollywood writers refused to give organizers a waiver and threatened to picket
the event if it went ahead.
