SPEARS’ HOSPITAL STAY EXTENDED
BRITNEY SPEARS’ hospital stay has been extended by two weeks following the advice of her psychiatrist.
The pop star was placed on an initial 72-hour psychiatric hold when she was admitted to UCLA Medical Center on Thursday morning (31Jan08) following an intervention by her shrink and family members.
The troubled star is not exactly a model patient, according to reports – she created havoc in the Resnick Neuropsychiatric wing of the hospital on Friday night (01Feb08) when she learned that her father had won temporary control of her legal and financial affairs following an emergency court hearing.
SPEARS’ DAD TAKES CONTROL AFTER COURT VICTORY
BRITNEY SPEARS’ father JAMIE has won control of his troubled daughter’s medical, financial and legal affairs, after he was granted temporary conservatorship in a Los Angeles court on Friday afternoon (01Feb08).
Jamie and his ex-wife Lynne called an emergency hearing after the pop star was committed to hospital for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation on Thursday morning (31Jan08).
And Superior Court judge Reva Goetz agreed to hand over control of the troubled star’s affairs, telling Jamie and Lynne she felt it would be in the singer’s “best interest”.
As a result of the ruling, Spears’ father now has the power to restrict visitors to his daughter.
Judge Goetz also allowed Britney’s parents to secure the singer’s Hollywood Hills home, changing locks and vacating any persons living there as they saw fit.
The former couple was also granted the power to “prosecute any civil harassment restraining orders” and immediately called for a 21-day restraining order against their daughter’s confidant and self-proclaimed manager Sam Lutfi, who has been involved in a war of words with Jamie and Lynne Spears since the pop star was admitted to hospital upon a psychiatrist’s intervention. The order was granted.
Angry Lutfi refused to appear in court, raging, “I object to this. Britney is fully capable of handling her own finances. Her doctors are capable of handling her health care.
“You’d think in a time like this, the family would be at the hospital taking care of their daughter, rather than fighting for her money. How sad.”
WAR OF WORDS AS LUTFI & LYNNE SPEARS CLASH
BRITNEY SPEARS’ manager SAM LUTFI and her mother LYNNE have gone to war and they’re using U.S. media outlets to attack each other. Lutfi sparked the battle when he phoned Los Angeles radio host Ryan Seacrest on Thursday night (31Jan08) to gush about his “sister”, Britney, and the mental health problems that prompted a headline-grabbing intervention early on Thursday morning.
Allowing Seacrest to repeat his comments during his breakfast show on Friday (01Feb08), a tearful Lutfi also took aim at the pop star’s family, insisting they were “incapable of telling the truth and incapable of sympathizing”.
He told Seacrest that Lynne and her ex-husband Jamie were only interested in the pop star’s finances and their image in the media.
Lutfi also spoke to U.S. magazine People, telling reporters Lynne and Jamie only seem like concerned parents: “They came into the house with an agenda and are trying to look like the heroes after all the dirty work has been done.
Their main worry is being financially cut off.”
Britney’s mum fired back by personally calling Seacrest to “set the record straight”.
Off-air, she told the DJ not to believe everything written and said about her in the media, insisting her only concern is for her daughter’s well-being.
SPEARS LIVING A FAIRYTALE
BRITNEY SPEARS checked into the Beverly Hills Hotel under the pseudonym Snow White hours before police arrived at her home to escort her to hospital.
The troubled pop star is currently in hospital on a 72-hour psychiatric hold, after her psychiatrist summoned authorities to her home late on Wednesday night (30Jan08).
In Touch Weekly magazine reports Spears was joined by paparazzi boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.
A hotel source says, “The pair came in and got a room and she didn’t want to use her own name.”
Ironically, Spears has called her new pet Chihuahua Snow White.
SPEARS’ MOTHER STEPS IN TO SAVE HER DAUGHTER
BRITNEY SPEARS’ mother LYNNE has vowed to “protect” her troubled daughter after the pair reconciled their year-long feud.
The pair fell out last year (07) but have recently attempted to revive their relationship – with Lynne arriving in Los Angeles on Monday (28Jan08) to comfort the troubled star.
Spears was spotted out shopping for a new car with her mother the following day (29Jan08), according to the New York Daily News.
And Lynne hopes that now she is back in her daughter’s life, she will be able to provide the Toxic hitmaker with the stability she needs.
She says, “Britney’s on my mind day and night. She never leaves my thoughts.
I love Britney dearly. I want nothing more than to protect her and make everything all right for her.”
