Steve Carell Replacement Rumors

According to reports NBC is quietly reaching out to Danny McBride and Rhys Darby to see how interested they might be in joining the cast of ‘The Office’. McBride and Darby are both veterans of HBO series; McBride stars on ‘Eastbound & Down’ while Darby was on ‘Flight of the Conchords’. Paul Lieberstein, who is the showrunner for the NBC sitcom, confirmed that they were “having discussions” about introducing a new character but said, “We haven’t settled exactly who will take over.” Lieberstein noted that promoting a current staffer to the job Carell’s character will vacate remains an option.

McBride would be difficult to schedule, as ‘Eastbound & Down’ is set for a second season, but Darby is available since ‘Conchords’ is finished.
