Miller Settles Paparazzi Lawsuit

Actress SIENNA MILLER has won $27,750 (#15,000) in damages from a British newspaper over invasion of privacy claims regarding a set of photos they published of the star.

The Alfie beauty was furious when the Daily Star printed photographs of her in Los Angeles on 11 September this year (08) – and filed suit accusing publishing chiefs of violating her privacy.

Miller has now accepted damages from the newspaper in an out-of-court settlement, and the newspaper’s editors have also agreed to print an apology to the actress.

A statement from the Daily Star bosses reads, “On 11th September we published an article about the actress Sienna Miller. The article was accompanied by a photograph of Sienna in a building in Los Angeles. We accept, as we said in the article, that Ms Miller was extremely harassed and distressed by persistent pursuit and intimidating tactics adopted by numerous paparazzi in seeking to obtain photographs of her, including the very photograph that we published. We apologize to Sienna for publishing this photograph.”

Miller is also currently in the middle of legal action against two other British tabloids and a photo agency – News International, the company that owns the News of the World and The Sun, and Big Pictures – over photographs taken of her and married actor Balthazar Getty on a yacht near Italy in July (08).

In December (07), Miller won a $65,000 (#32,500) payout in a separate case from the same two newspapers after they published “intrusive” photos of her.
