According to Brittany Murphy’s family, the 32-year-old actress was sick with flu-like symptoms in the days prior to her death on Sunday from apparent cardiac arrest, the Associated Press reports.
Ed Winter, the Assistant Chief Coroner, told the AP that his office will conduct an autopsy Monday to try to determine the actress’ cause of death. It may take weeks before results are conclusive, but Winter said her death appears to be from natural causes. Prescription medications were obtained from Murphy’s Hollywood Hills home, and Winter said that officials would contact Murphy’s physician to obtain details about her medical history.
UPDATE: The coroner’s office said that a cause of death will not be confirmed until toxicology results are finished in four to six weeks.
