Dianna Agron Is ‘Sorry’ For GQ ‘Glee’ Photos

If Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus can get away with posing for racy magazine photos, why can’t the Glee kids?

Dianna Agron, who posed for GQ’s controversial photo shoot, is pointing out that she and costars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are “not the first” celebrities to get scantily clad for a magazine spread.

“Other public figures and shows . . . have pushed the envelope and challenged the levels of comfort in their viewers and fans,” Agron, 24, wrote on her blog.

Still, the actress, who plays Quinn on Fox’s hit show, wants to apologize. “In perpetuating the type of images that evoke these kind of emotions, I am sorry,” she wrote. “If you are hurt or these photos make you uncomfortable, it was never our intention.”

But, according to the actress, it’s an offended parent’s responsibility to make sure their children don’t get their hands on something considered risqué.

“If your eight-year-old has a copy of our GQ cover in hand, again I am sorry,” she wrote. “But I would have to ask, how on earth did it get there? . . . There are parental locks and ways to get around this. I am twenty-four years old. I have been a pretty tame and easy-going girl my whole life. Nobody is perfect, and these photos do not represent who I am.”

Though the actors in the photos play as high school students on Glee, they are all adults. “As often happens in Hollywood, these ‘kids’ are in their twenties,” GQ Editor-in-Chief Jim Nelson said in a statement to The Insider. “Cory Monteith is almost 30! I think they’re old enough to do what they want.”

(Michele is also 24 and Monteith is 28.)

Glee‘s Mark Salling also defended his costars during an interview with KIIS-FM radio host JoJo Wright. “I mean, come on! We’re obviously not in high school,” he said Thursday. “It’s tongue-in-cheek that we’re in high school, so whatevs . . . There’s more important things to worry about in the world.”

  1. I know they are playing kids that are in high school, but all of the actors are legal, so I don’t personally see what the big deal is. I have seen actors their age in a lot less clothing.

  2. Yeah. I mean if you look at other controversy in the past, the stars tend to be under 18. Like Britney was and Miley is. But these girls are all well over 18 so I don’t see the issue either. There’s been plenty of sexy scenes on Glee, and people haven’t complained about those the way they are about these photos.

  3. Exactly Emma!! There are characters on Glee that I rarely see out of a sexy cheerleader costumes, and one of the main characters was pregnant, and they are making a big deal out of a couple pics of them in their underwear?? If they were naked, then I could see it being a bigger deal. I know they are playing high school students, but people need to relax and realize the actors themselves are not in high school.

  4. Word! Seriously, I was more concerned that Cory was almost 30? He definitely doesn’t look 30 (he’s still cute as hell though) but I thought the pics were not only gorgeous and sexy, but some of them were kinda funny just because of Cory’s smirk, how stupid that people are saying it’s child pornography when neither of the 3 are anywhere near illegal!

  5. I do think he looks rather fetching in his whole ensemble in the first picture of the three, I think Lea and Dianna look stunning, their make up is done perfectly to not only match but soften the sexiness of it, Cory’s face just tops it off. Like seriously, everytime I see the pictures, I can’t find a fault at all, they were done so well, I think!
