Charlie Sheen Will Be In Rehab For Three Months

Charlie Sheen was admitted to a treatment facility over the weekend after he was hospitalized following a 36-hour alcohol and drugs binge at his Los Angeles home, and sources say he could be there for up to 90 days, disrupting filming on eight episodes of his comedy TV series Two And A Half Men.

The CBS network which employs Charlie – who is the highest paid television star in America, reportedly earning a reputed $1.78 million per episode of Two And A Half Men – said in statement it was “profoundly concerned for his health and well-being” before announcing production will go on hiatus.

The 45-year-old actor’s manager Mark Burg, who is also a producer on the show, told the New York Daily News newspaper: “Charlie knows he has work to do and he is looking forward to regaining his sobriety. Charlie hopes to be back at work in the near future but there is no time frame. Regaining his sobriety is what is most important.”

Gossip website TMZ has reported that there are around 300 people associated with the programme and many are getting nervous about whether they will be paid while shooting is halted.

The crew were “partially compensated” when Charlie – who has four children, daughters, Lola, six, and Sam, five, with ex-wife Denise Richards and 22-month old twin boys Bob and Max with estranged spouse Brooke Mueller – was last admitted to rehab in February 2010.

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan – who was herself discharged from the Betty Ford Center after three months of court-ordered drug treatment on January 3 – has said she is “worried” for the actor as he shows “obvious signs of addiction”.

A source close to the Machete actress said she “understands the problem of having the wrong people around and wants Charlie to understand that he needs to surround himself with positive, sober people”.

  1. Are people actually still watching his show? Does Charlie Sheen’s constant screw ups bring in the ratings? I honestly do not understand why CBS keeps this guy around, much less why they pay him as much as they do. Anyone else would have been fired at the first hint of trouble, especially considering how conservative the CBS network is.

  2. Yes people still watch his show. It does very well in ratings and even better when he screws up. I don’t watch the episodes on CBS, but do watch the syndicated reruns. I enjoy the show and find it funny. The kid is the funniest.

  3. The show is actually pretty funny. I’ll watch it if it’s on though I don’t make a point to catch it. I know a ton of people who love it. I just feel really bad for the cast and crew of this show who are worried about making ends meet while Sheen is in rehab and has been making 1.78 million an episode. I almost feel like he should pay the crew during his leave of absence.

  4. I agree with Emma that the other actors on the show should be paid for his stupidity costing them. I don’t watch the show partially because I find him so repulsive. I think he’s an abusive creep.

Amanda – agreed – I don’t get why they keep him around and other stars get canned for less.

  5. I think the show only has a year or so left doesn’t it? When you’ve run for that show you can’t replace actors even though it would be *in theory* much better for the show. I do imagine he’s going to have a hard time getting steady work after this though – People just aren’t going to want to risk it.
