Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review

Deus Ex: Human Revolution doesn’t come with anything that will overly impress you or with a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. However, the story is good enough and it does progress nicely as you get deeper into the game. That is one of the things I came away with when looking back on this title. A feeling of good progression in the story with no real impressive moments in gameplay.

You will have an interesting world to explore here with some side quests for you to do. To get a good feel for the world you are in I would suggest going through those side quests. Though you could easily just play through the main story and not have to bother with anything outside of that. It depends on if you want to miss out on gaining more experience points (which can be used to upgrade your augmentations) and having an overall better feel for the game.

There are a good amount of augmentations for you to upgrade your character with. You will come across kits that will enable you to do this. Also, a big part of the game is hacking into computers and getting through doors by hacking those as well. So upgrading your hacking abilities will be a big help. You will also be able to upgrade energy cells. So each time you use a takedown move or carry something heavy it will use up those energy cells. There are also many features for you to upgrade that really help with the game.

The gameplay with Deus Ex: Human Revolution isn’t anything special. You’ll spend most of the game trying to sneak around from location to location without being detected. Though I found that most of the time I ended up being detected and quickly involved in a firefight. You have a good selection of guns to use as well as a melee attack. You can do two types of melee attacks. Tap B and that will perform a non-lethal takedown, while holding B will perform a lethal takedown. The game also uses a cover system that works very well when sneaking around or in combat.
