‘Glee’s Cory Monteith To Host Gemini Awards

Canadian Gleeks will be happy.

Glee star Cory Monteith is to host the 25th annual Gemini Awards, organizers said Monday.

“My mom is so excited! I hope that I can make my fellow Canadians proud!” Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on the popular Fox dramedy, said on news of his hosting duties at Canada’s TV awards to air live on Nov. 13 from Toronto.

The Geminis will air on Global Television, which also airs Glee in simulcast on Tuesday nights, and the Showcase cable channel.

Monteith was born in Calgary and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, and enjoyed film credits that include “Final Destination 3” and “Deck The Halls” before finding overnight success on “Glee.”

The CBS/CTV drama Flashpoint leads the field for this year’s Canadian TV awards with 15 nominations.
