Killzone Trilogy And Killzone HD Coming October 23rd To PS3!

Killzone Trilogy is set to hit the Playstation 3 on October 23rd of this year. This is the most recent addition to the “Playstation Collection,” Sony’s initiative to bundle together multiple games from the same series and re-release them at a budget price. It joins the God of War, inFAMOUS, and Ratchet & Clank collections that were released back in August.

So far, these collections have included everything from High-Definition and 3D remasters of Playstation 2 and PSP games to DLC, downloadable games, and the Playstation 3 titles themselves. Killzone Trilogy is no different. For $39.99, you will not only get Guerilla Games’ two PS3 titles, but also a new HD remaster of the original Killzone, previously available only on the Playstation 2. The remaster was spearheaded by members of the original development team, runs in 720p at 30fps, and features trophy support and tweaked controls optimized for the Dualshock 3. Buying the collection will also net you a voucher for all of Killzone 2 and 3‘s map packs- six in total.

If you are like me and already own the Playstation 3 games and have been pining away for Killzone HD for years, fret not; Sony has you covered. When the Trilogy releases on October 23rd, Killzone HD will also be released as a standalone product on the Playstation Store for $14.99.

This has been a big year for Killzone. Back in February, the multiplayer for Killzone 3 was released as a standalone downloadable title, a process that has since been repeated with Starhawk. In addition to the reveals of Killzone HD and the collection that bundles all of the series’ console entries together, we were also met with the reveal of Killzone: Mercenary. Mercenary is the long-awaited handheld Killzone title for the Playstation Vita. Not much has been revealed beyond the initial teaser trailer, but it appears to be a rather stunning rendition of the franchise, and is designed for bite-sized play.
