FanBolt Talks Wii U, New York Comic Con, and more with GTTV’s Geoff Keighley

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Geoff Keighley, host of Spike’s GTTV which you can also find on gametrailers.com. During our discussion I was able to grab his opinion on a few upcoming major releases including Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed III, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I also asked him about New York Comic Con and of course the Wii U. I’ve stated my desire for the Wii U a few times over the past year and look forward to providing you all with a lot of coverage on the system in the coming weeks leading up to its release. It was nice to get a few opinions on the system from Geoff and I hope you enjoy our conversation.

As I stated during the video, I have a lot of interest in Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed III, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. This is the first time since Halo 2 that I’ve been extremely excited about a Halo game and it’s going to be great to see where 343 takes us. I’ve always been interested in the Assassin’s Creed games, but never have I wanted an Assassin’s Creed game as badly as I want Assassin’s Creed III. The setting of the game is what wins it for me, but also hearing and seeing what they have done in terms of gameplay… give it to me now! As for Need for Speed Most Wanted, I love my arcade racers, but this is the first time I’ve been excited about a release. Not only does the city design look cool, but the online multiplayer sounds absolutely fantastic. Finally, Black Ops 2…it’s going futuristic and has more zombies than ever before.

I wanted to focus primarily on the Wii U because that’s what will be covered the most over the coming weeks. We are very excited about the Wii U and I can’t wait to get my hands on the game pad and start experiencing the games in a whole new way. I’m going to have way too much fun working over the next few months and writing about the system and all of these games. That means I’ll have a lot of coverage made available to you, as will the entire FanBolt Gaming team. I did want to point out with Black Ops 2 and the game pad how that interaction might make the campaign more fun, but most might want to consider switching to a more standard controller for the multiplayer. Who knows for sure at the moment, but I will find out for you as quickly as possible.

As I build my career in the gaming industry, it’s been a great opportunity to speak with someone who’s been involved in it for a long time. My curiosity leads me to ask questions about his travels to different studios and to get a small feel for what that experience is like. The question stems from a personal interest on my part, but hopefully other gamers will find it interesting as well and honestly, who wouldn’t find that interesting? We were told to keep the conversation short, but I could easily talk with him all day about the gaming industry and the opportunities he has as a journalist. It definitely was an inspiring moment for me as I build my career and continue to seek more opportunities.

I hope you enjoyed our conversation and be sure to keep an eye out for our massive amount of Wii U coverage that is soon to come. We’ll also provide coverage on those games I mention above, especially Assassin’s Creed III and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. I will give you full coverage on both of those games and also comparison coverage between the 360 and Wii U versions.

  1. It’s great to see a website that is pro Wii U. The majority of people I’ve heard their opinions from have said they’re either cautious about it or have something against it. Personally I can’t wait to experience the gamepad.

  2. I’m glad you found your way to us then. The Wii U is a console we’re excited about and we’ll have a lot more Wii U related coverage to come. 🙂
