A Look At Upcoming Indie Games On The Nintendo Wii U – Part 2

The launch of Nintendo’s latest home console, the Wii U, is almost upon us. Unlike the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, the Wii U’s own digital shop will be up and running day 1. Before the eShop is launched for the Wii U, now is the perfect time to look at some interesting indie and other small games that will be released at or near launch for the service. Believe it or not… but there are a decent amount of indie games that will be released within the first few months for the eShop service. With that, let’s look at a few interesting indie games that will soon be available to you.

Trine 2: Director’s Cut
Frozenbyte is bringing the gorgeous Trine 2 to the Nintendo Wii U at launch. And when I say gorgeous, I truly mean that. This must be the best looking game currently in development coming to the Wii U right now. The game features some breathtaking 2.5D visuals and sounds. Trine 2 is a puzzle platform video game, requiring the player to use the skills of the three unique characters. Switching back and forth between the three characters makes this an interesting and challenging game. This Trine 2 edition not only features the main game, but also comes with the Goblin Menace expansion as well as new multiplayer modes and new platforming levels. The game will also feature multiple control schemes. This includes the Wii U Gamepad, Wii Remotes, Nunchucks, and the Wii U Pro Controller. Expect to see this game at launch on the Wii U eShop.

Nano Assault Neo
Shin’en are no strangers to the Nintendo handhelds and consoles. They are bringing a new edition of their Nano series to the Wii U’s eShop with Nano Assault Neo. This is a fast paced twin-stick shoot-em’ up game all set in a microscopic world. Nano Assault for the Nintendo 3DS was a very beautiful game and this one is no exception. The people behind the game are magicians at making great looking games while using limited space. Wii U eShop may not have a size restriction anymore; you can expect this game to be small in size and big in graphics and gameplay. This game will feature off screen play on the Wii U gamepad so you can destroy those nasty viruses anywhere in the house. The game will also feature local multiplayer between the Wii U gamepad and the TV screen itself. Let’s not forget about the added bonus of leaderboards so you can see how you rank up against your peers online. Nano Assault Neo is expected to be launched on or very near launch.

Little Inferno
From the designers of World of Goo comes Little Inferno for the Wii U. Anyone that has ever played World of Goo knows how addictive and unique that game can be. Little Inferno is shaping up to be just as addictive and fun as the creator’s previous game. Your world is literally freezing to death and only getting colder and colder. Luckily you have your Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace to keep you warm. You must keep yourself warm or else you will die from being frozen. Expect this super hot game to arrive at launch.

Do you see yourself buying any of these games when you pick up your Wii U?
