HBO’s Big Love’s Fifth Season Will Be It’s Last

After eight years of laugh-out-loud polygamist shenanigans, HBO’s hit show ‘Big Love’ is coming to an end.

That’s right tv fans: long before ‘Sister Wives’ hit TLC, quite an amazing HBO show titled ‘Big Lov’e that followed a similar concept was [and still is] pulling in some amazing rating numbers!

HBO announced this morning that ‘Big Love’s fifth season, set to premiere in January 2011, is going to be the beloved drama’s last year on the air.

Show runners Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer talk a little bit about the show and it’s last season in a recent statement, saying: “When we created Big Love in 2002, we had a strong conception of the journey the Henrickson family would make over the course of the series, of the story we had to tell…While we were in the writers’ room this year shaping our fifth season, we discovered that we were approaching the culmination of that story.”

When asked specifically about the last season, star Chloë Sevigny goes into just a tiny bit of detail, saying, “I think that finally you see the Henricksons having to deal with some consequences, for their actions and for their lifestyle. And they are finally getting a little bit of comeuppance.”

Though sad to know the show will soon sees it’s end, fans are happy to hear that the last season will go where previous seasons haven’t yet journeyed to. With the show coming to an end, do you think that TLC’s Sister Wives can fill the void left by ‘Big Love’? What would you like to see happen in the final season?
