Jersey Shore Apologizes Over ‘Tranny’ Flap

It’s no secret that The Jersey Shore tends offend viewers from time to time, but when the cast and producers actually dish out an apology, you know it’s bad!

Being deemed by GLAAD as “one of the most blatantly transphobic scenes aired anywhere on television in the last few years,” a recent scene involving The Situation and a trans-gender woman is being seen as no laughing matter.

During a recap of the cast’s nighttime hook-ups on the recently aired reunion special, a scene was shown that involved The Situation and a trans-gender woman [in which he was unaware of the fact of]. Comments from the cast-mates weren’t so hilarious, some stating:

“All the clues that lead me to believe she’s a man…We think Situation might’ve got himself into a situation with a tranny out here… If you have to think about it, it is. It’s usually a tranny, stay away,” They eventually went on into a more offensive conversation, calling the woman a “trenade”.

MTV recently responded to the outrage caused by the scene’s premiere, saying: “We appreciate GLAAD voicing concern about the Jersey Shore reunion special. The segment in question was certainly not meant to be insensitive, but in retrospect we realize that it was offensive to some viewers. We sincerely apologize.”

As for the cast of the hit show, I’d suggest taking some of the recently dished out adive from their fans, who are warning them to ‘calm it down’ before they all end up with a legal ‘situation’ on their hands in the future.
