Burn The Floor Review: Pure Heaven For Dancing Fans

With the popularity of such shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With The Stars, it was inevitable that a Broadway show like Burn The Floor would surface. And if you’re a fan of the recent slew of dancing shows, you’ll quickly find yourself falling in love with this production too. It’s sexy, it’s fun, and the music will make it difficult for you to sit still. No seriously, the ladies sitting next to me were having a really hard time!

There’s no real story in this production, just different genres of dance and music spanning from sexy Latin beats to the wild swing dances that will have your jaw on the floor. I felt like this show should have came with a disclaimer, don’t try these moves at home… These are after all professionals. And professionals they are indeed, the cast is built up of So You Think You Can Dance veterans! If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll be excited to see Anya Garnis and Pasha Kovalev from Season 7 along with Robbie Kmetoni (who won Season 3), Janette Manrara (Season 5 finalist), and Karen Hauer (Season 6 finalist). With so much SYTUCD stars on stage, you almost feel like it should be branded as a tour for SYTUCD.

All the dancers came to the stage from different parts of the world, some from Russia others from Venezuela and Australia. There’s a true international feeling of culture to the night as these dancers with different backgrounds take on the different genres of music. As someone who has no knowledge of formal dancing, I simply found myself entertained by the performances. The ladies next to me however… were admiring the show for something more. Ballroom dancing is comprised of 10 dances: 5 standard dances and five Latin dances (Something I didn’t know before last night). You get a taste of everything at this show, which to dancing fans is pure heaven.

The tickets are a steal starting at just $13.00. They can be purchased through the FOX Theatre Box Office, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 1-800-982-2787. Hurry up and check it out while you can though, the show only runs through this Sunday in Atlanta!
