Netherworld: FanBolt’s Favorite Haunted House of 2013

Happy Halloween! It seemed only appropriate that I post today about FanBolt’s favorite haunted house of the year! With more 250 special effects and animatronic creatures, Netherworld is not only our favorite haunted hot spot, but it’s also one of the top haunted houses in the world! With a 40 foot long spinning tunnel, more than a dozen giant monsters, a 20 foot rocking room, and more than two dozen ghostly projections, Netherworld is like not other haunt you’ve ever visited!

This was my 3rd year visiting Netherworld, and somehow they continue to impress me and outdo themselves – which is hard for a haunted house to do. If the production value wasn’t enough to entrance you – the individuals that work at the venue are. The monsters that roam around the parking lot, aiming to make you laugh and give you a good scare, are truly amazing – and honestly my favorite part of Netherworld. I always look forward to grabbing memorable photos with them and having comical conversations, and they never break character for one second.

The haunts themselves are bigger and better with every year that passes, and 2013 was no exception for Netherworld. “The Dead Ones” and “The Boogeyman” are these year’s main attractions, and the path through them is longer than 6 football fields!

With Netherworld being based in Atlanta, and Atlanta being a hot spot for filming, the Hollywood of the South as I like to call it, a number of celebrities have visited this year. Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, CM Punk, Chandler Riggs, Evander Hollyfield, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, three-time (eight nominations) Oscar winning makeup artist Ve Neill, Andre 3000 of Outkast, Jermanie Dupree and Bow Wow have all been spotted looking for a scare!

I have a couple fun facts for you horror junkies as well. Netherwold icon creature creator Bill “Splat” Johnson’s handiwork can been seen in dozens of movies and TV show’s including Eight Legged Freaks, Halloween 2, Zombieland, The Sleepaway Camp sequels, The Hunger Games Catching Fire and our personal favorite – The Walking Dead. You also might recognize Netherworld’s chief make-up artist and creature fabricator, Roy Wooley. Roy was a fan favorite on Season 3 of SyFy’s Face Off…so much so that he was asked back to compete again in Season 5!

Netherworld

With more than 17 years under its belt, Netherwold has become one of the most famous haunted houses in the world and a regular destination for those traveling from each of the 50 states and abroad. In fact, Fangoria, USA Today and Hauntworld magazine all rank it number one in the world!

Netherworld is open through this Sunday, November 3rd in Atlanta, so you don’t have much time left to check it out this year! For more information and to purchase tickets visit: www.fearworld.com!
