SyFy Summer Shows And Their Creative Packaging

When you receive as many screeners as I do on a weekly basis, there’s no way you’ll get to all of them. You pick and choose based on what looks interesting and what seems to grab your attention the quickest. I appreciate clever marketing and packaging, and SyFy never seems to disappoint me.

Over the last month I’ve received 4 packages in the SyFy Summer of Imagination promotion. Each package promoting of their new or returning series such as Fact of Faked, Eureka, Warehouse 13, and Mary Knows Best.

So let me tell you a little bit about each of these series, and the awesome packaging they arrived in. See the bottom of my post for the gallery of images.

Eureka

Eureka was the first package I received. The promo item was labeled a ‘rehydrator’ with the Global Dynamics logo on the front. It’s a single-walled water bottle accompanied by a screener of the new season.

If you haven’t seen Eureka yet, it’s definitely worth checking out. Chances are you probably know someone that says it’s a fun show, and it really is. On the surface, the town of Eureka seems pretty normal, but it’s far from it – it’s actually a top-secret community of the world’s smartest people. They’re all assembled here by the government to conduct classified research. Incredible breakthroughs happen every day. It’s a place where literally anything can happen.

Warehouse 13

Next came the Warehouse 13 screener packaged with a kit for making little warehouse sand castles. Complete with the mold and a little shovel, this was the largest of the packages.

Warehouse 13 follows two secret service agents who find themselves abruptly transferred to a massive top-secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government.

Fact of Faked: Paranormal Files

Then came the Fact of Faked: Paranormal Files package containing L’Oreal’s new Sublime Bronze Luminous Bronzer. Which I’m definitely going to test out… post Comic-Con. I have severe distrust from bronzers.

This new series on SyFy is apart of their all-new Thursday night reality bloc. The series is comprised of six one-hour episodes following around a team of experts on their mission to uncover the truth behind some of the most compelling, mystifying, and seemingly unexplainable images caught on camera and posted on the Internet.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’d like to see them tackle that video taken in China a couple weeks ago with the unidentified object that broke the sound barrier. This series reminds me a bit of the History Channel’s UFO Hunters, but better.

Mary Knows Best

The last press kit I received was for Mary Knows Best, and you might think the accompanying item would have been a Magic 8 Ball, but that’s not very summer-ee. Instead they included and ice tray with the same sayings that the Magic 8 Ball would give. So you essentially ask your drink deep questions and wait for an ice cube to surface with an insightful answer. Though your friends may think you’ve had a little too much to drink if you start talking to your margarita.

Also apart of the Thursday night reality bloc on SyFy, Mary Knows Best chronicles the poignant, funny and frequently otherworldly situations in which Mary and her family find themselves on a daily basis. After all, Mary Occhino is a renowned psychic.

It’s a pretty entertaining series, light and quirky with a little bit of paranormal thrown in. Almost like a perfect drink mix for me to use my promotional ice cubes in.

More press kit features to come after I post all my Comic Con 210 coverage! So get ready for all the behind-the-scenes news and pictures from the press rooms all on my Pop Culture Junkie blog here on FanBolt!

  1. I religiously tune into Fact or Faked already (actually watching right now). I love the Gettysburg Video Footage. They pay attention to the left handed figure but if you notice there’s one in the middle they missed that I caught! I’m very interested in Eureka now that I have an overview. Amazing promo items! Five stars!
