Now for my thoughts….

There were some great moments last night. I loved seeing Conan snag the Favorite Talk Show Host award and Jane Lynch’s acceptance speech for Favorite TV Comedy Actress and Favorite TV Comedy for Glee. Lynch had no clue that Cory Monteith and Chris Colfner were standing mere feet behind her as she pointed to their seats in the audience and left them with no time to say thanks on the mic. It was great when she finally realized they were standing behind her! Check out the video below.

I was also sadden that none of The Vampire Diaries cast showed up. It makes me almost certain they tell people ahead of time – don’t worry about coming, you’re not going to win any awards. Because, The Vampire Diaries crew was up for a fair amount of awards – and it would have been awkward if they had won and hadn’t been there.

I have to admit that I have some curiosity as to the voting on the People’s Choice Awards… some awards didn’t seem like they went to the largest fanbase. For example, Johnny Depp beating out Robert Pattinson. Don’t get me wrong, I love Johnny Depp – but I know the Twilight fanbase, and I find it hard to believe they let this happen. Am I alone on this? I’d love to hear if other people had similiar ‘WTF’ moments while watching last night.

Some ‘WTF’ moments that you may have experienced would have included Queen Latifah. Every time she ventured out into the audience last night, I would cringe. From the awkward moments with the Kardashian clan, to the near painful interaction with the Twilight trio, I really had no clue what they were trying to accomplish. Though I have to admit, I really enjoyed it when Queen Latifah asked the person sitting next to Taylor Lautner who he was to be so lucky to sit next to the Twilight cast, and he replied the “most exciting person in this audience.”

Queen Latifah motioned him to stand up saying, “Ladies and Gentleman, please meet the people. Stand up People.”

The guy stands up and takes the mic which Queen Latifah hands him, “Hello, it’s great to be here….”

And Queen Latifah pulls the mic away saying, “Thank you people. We have Jacob and Bella and all that… but that doesn’t mean we don’t care about the people.”

I found it painful, ironic, and funny. 🙂 Check out a clip of it below if you missed it last night!

Well that’s my rant on the People’s Choice Awards. I look forward to hearing what you all thought about the awkward moments, the winners, and the voting!

  1. Maybe the Twilight fans are just not that bright and didn’t understand the twitter portion? I guess the Fringe fans got it right. We beat out TVD. Yay! It just took a dedicated fanbase. Look at Lisa E from House.

Queen was bad last night. So many cringe moments. I can’t believe she couldn’t get Zac Levi’s name right. 🙁

  2. Yeah it was painful. 🙂 And it definitely takes a dedicated fanbase… I just thought Ian Somerhalder’s fans would have this on lock-down. haha 🙂 And the Twilighters are all over Twitter… I almost wonder if they gave it to someone else just because the 3 of them hadn’t arrived yet – because they didn’t get there until way into the show from my understanding.

  3. I’m surprised there were no wins for TVD. They have a pretty strong dedicated fanbase. I am happy that Fringe won for sci/fi/fantasy though and Dexter for TV obsession. That show is so addicting.

I didn’t watch the show last night but I just watched those clips and that last one really made me cringe. Kristen is always so awkward in public appearances :/ I had second hand embarrassment just watching that clip..although that tends to happen with any Twilight cast appearance.

  4. Kristen is usually awkward with things like this, but in her defensive – I don’t think I would have done much better. haha 🙂 That was incredibly awkward. And I’m with you on the TVD, I wish they’d release the numbers because I’m a little bit skeptical.

  5. Super happy for that Fringe and Conan pair of votes, but all the rest make me want to cry. Especially that second video embedded above. Poor stars…

  6. I’d love to see Zac host! I think he’d make a great star – don’t think it’s going to happen if the awards are on CBS though. 🙂 NBC maybe…. And yeah, I didn’t think House had that rabid of a fanbase but maybe they do? I thought Glee’s fanbase was far more active… again… skeptical 🙂

  7. I agree – how did Rob Pat not win, no way I say – I even voted and usually never take the time to vote. Normally I love the Queen but she seemed to be trying to hard…I was sad that were so many stars MIA – not sure what to think. But I enjoyed what I did see.

  8. I didn’t agree with many of the choices but to be fair that’s par for me. Not everyone is into e same thing but I’m really glad Fringe got a nod. It’s inventive in a way no other show is.
