Chris Cagle is back on the country charts for the first time since 2005 with his new album “My Life’s Been A Country Song.” The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Current Country Chart and it’s no surprise why.
Cagle gives fans what they have come to expect from him with songs such as the first single off of the album, “What Kinda Gone,” and “It’s Good to be Back.” Both songs are classic Cagle, catchy lyrics intertwined with an upbeat melody. But he also creates a new sound with songs such as “Little Sundress” and “No Love Songs.” Both tracks are about drinking, women and beaches and don’t offer the same rock melody that fans usually hear on a Cagle album. He does well with both tracks, which have the sound of a Kenny Chesney or Toby Keith song, and turns them into potential singles.
This is Cagle’s fourth album, and it is some of his best material to date. Although Cagle did not write any of the songs on the album, not the case on the prior three, the songs still have a personal feel to them. Fans should get this album. It’s the Chris Cagle they have come to expect, mixed in with a few new songs that have a different feel to them, and add a new dimension to the record.
