Cyrus ‘Grows Up’ On New Album

Teen star MILEY CYRUS has vowed her new album will be a “grown-up” departure
from her role on hit Disney TV series HANNAH MONTANA.

The 15-year-old singer sparked controversy for acting much older than her age
when she was snapped topless, wearing just a bedsheet, by celebrity
photographer Annie Leibowitz for the June (08) issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

But the photo scandal hasn’t stopped the teenager from embarking on a more
adult music release with her forthcoming album, Breakout – because she wants to
be taken more seriously as a songwriter.

She says, “I wrote all the songs, except two. My last (record) was more just
meeting me, finding out who I am, and here, it’s more getting in depth of
what’s been going on in my life in the past year.”

Cyrus also adds she was able to “escape” by composing the lyrics to much of
the album herself, choosing to do so because “no matter how long what I’m doing
here lasts, I want to be a songwriter for the rest of my life”.

Cyrus’ new LP is scheduled for release in July (08) and will serve as a
follow-up to her 2007 album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus.
