Jonas Brothers Aim For Number One

Pop sensations THE JONAS BROTHERS are on course to land their first U.S. number one album after scoring sales of over 200,000 in a day.

The trio’s A Little Bit Longer release hit record store shelves on Tuesday (12Aug08) and enjoyed a great first-day of business. Chart experts predict the album could debut at the top of next week’s (20Aug08) chart with more than 600,000 sales.

The siblings are expected to challenge Coldplay for the biggest-ever sales week for a digital album title – the British rockers’ Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends sold 288,000 downloads in its first week on sale earlier this year (08). And Billboard reports the Jonas Brothers may pull off another chart feat next week if their self-titled album, which currently sits at number 11, falls back into the top 10.

If they place two albums in the top 10, it’ll be the first time a group has done so since ‘N Sync made history at the beginning of 1999.
