1966 – Janis Joplin made her debut at San Francisco’s Avalon Ballroom.

1969 – David Bowie released “Space Oddity” to coincide with the first lunar landing.

1993 – “What’s Love Got To Do With It” a film biography of Ike and Tina Turner, opened.

1995 – Courtney Love was admitted to the hospital after experiencing a reaction to prescription medicine.

1996 – Metallica played a show at a small San Francisco club that was broadcast over the Internet.

1998 – Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland played hooky for a scheduled court date, instead choosing to check himself into a drug treatment facility.

  1. I didn’t realize the song “Space Oddity” was timed to hit when the first man walked on the moon. That’s some strategic planning.
